Our third session of training is done with our good friends Tony and Kath Wade at Kyloni G.S.D. on a Firday Evening with Tiger.
For more on Kyljette training see the new Kyljette Training page.
Apart from these scheduled training sessions we road walk Tiger every day for about thirty minutes before her normal exercise/playtime, and also we do a bit of breed training about 10 mins just to keep her eye in.
Sarah our daughter is training hard as our show handler, which she is getting really good at, she enjoys the training and is working hard to get as much knowledge on handling as well as gaining experience by taking on a variety of dogs and bitches of various ages, so that as much experience of different dogs can be gained.
When did our training start?
Well training started at an early age for Tiger, (& Jez), as with all our puppies she and her litter mates were started off with basic toilet training, this was so that by the time the new owners took them away they would be nearly house trained.
We also taught them basic commands like “Sit”, and “Down” as well as “Paw”.
The litter was socialised with people and children as much as possible, and also handled as much as possible even earlier, this was to get the puppies used to contact and handling with humans.
Until Tiger's Innoculations were effective, (12 weeks), she wasn't allowed near any other dogs apart from her mum Jez . this didn't stop us taking her out and about though, and it is possible by carrying the pup around, this enables the pup to get used to smells, noises, crowds and the everyday sights that we take for granted, all this was to enhance her socialising skills.
Once Tiger was twelve weeks old it was a matter of finding a club that did Breed and Obedience training, the nearest to us being Huddersfield, this was when Tiger really started socialising and has loved going to the club since, especially as her two best friends, Uma and Storm attend the club.
